Agyness is to launch clothing line . . . But what will Henry think? When we think of the lovely Agyness we picture mad hair and her cockle warming Lancashire accent and of course, her uniform of colourful House of Holland outfits. Now she’s only gone and (rather disloyally?) signed up to design for the Japanese branch of [up-market US store] Barneys.
Apparently she’s helped produce a special collection of 11 items including dresses, knits, scarves, t-shirts and leggings. However, it doesn’t look like Miss Deyn is going to be elbowing Henry off the LFW schedule just yet – the capsule collection will just be on sale at Barneys’ in Tokyo and is an initiative that forms part of Barneys’ environmental campaign Go Green Go. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the planting of trees in inner Mongolia.
As if that wasn’t enough to keep her out of mischief for a few weeks, we’ve also discovered she’s setting up an online fashion mag with best friend Fiona Byrne, a former editor at NME.com and contributor to New York and Nylon.. and Grazia. Fiona will act as editor-in-chief while Deyn will fill the role of creative director. The girls have decided to call the project Naag.com after fiddling around with scrabble tiles of the last two letters of Byrne's name and first two of Deyn's.
They plan that the content will be about all things the two girls love and declare to be ‘rad’ They have also let slip that their inspiration is the now-defunct US magazine Jane (which still has something of a cult following of hipster fans). Fiona explained: "I miss the attitude of Jane. It was funny and it was intimate. You felt like you knew the writers. It was cool, but it wasn't just downtown New York." Naag will feature original photo and video content featuring Deyn, as well as articles on fashion, culture and travel written by their journalist friends. We can’t wait to see it, ladies.
