She’s been telling everyone who’ll listen for ages that she’s keen to have a break from music and try her hand at other projects. Well, now it seems she’s settled on an idea – Vintage Dress hire. We’re disappointed to have to go without her bittersweet confessional pop ditties next year – but admit this next thing looks rather cool.
Well known for her personal style, Lily’s undergone a style evolution since 2006 from bouncy prom dresses with trainers and the blingest creoles around, to becoming a Lagerfeld muse, both performing at the Chanel catwalk show and pouting Audrey-style in the campaigns.
The project, with her sister and business partner Sarah Owen is called Lucy In Disguise and she’s going to launch it this summer, at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival - a music, vintage, retail (and even hairdressing) event at Goodwood this August.
Lily announced "I'm doing a vintage clothes shop with my sister, it's amazing stuff that would be really expensive but we're renting it [out] for a fraction of the price, so girls can come and get dressed up for a night out and have a laugh."
She’s full of enthusiasm for the project, even saying she's in the office every day "sourcing clothes and getting really excited about my new venture". Well good for you Miss Allen. She told the Evening Standard that despite the fact the Goodwood fest features lots of live bands, she certainly won’t be on the lineup, and emphasising that March 7th at the O2 will be her last live performance for the time being. Aaw. Lily - she’s alright, still.
