A week in the style of Julia Restoin Roitfeld…

26 February 2010

As the daughter of living fashion legend Carine Roitfeld, no excuses in this world could allow Julia Restoin Roitfeld to be anything other than stylishly pitch perfect, every single waking second of her life. No pressure then. But like her Maman, we’re glad to report, she never disappoints. From the Love Ball to the Front Rows of London Fashion Week’s top shows, we’ve (of course) been watching all week and can profess to have cracked the code to Julia’s successful signature look. She’s cute and sexy at once, without ever going too overtly sexual (*ahem Daisy Lowe at last night’s Alice in Wonderland Premiere*) or too frou-frouy-girly. How does she do it you cry? Well, choosing little mini dresses full of designer details, styled up with leg flattering tights, killer heels and dishelleved but not messy hair is a winning formula. (We think she’s learnt that last trick from Carine.) And like all faithful fashionistas, fail-safe head to toe black is always on the menu.

She’s wowed us in a navy Mark Fast frock at the Elle Style Awards, looked uber cool and fashion forward in a shearling coat (very A/W'10 don’t you know) at Mulberry’s NY party, made a subtle tribute to McQueen by wearing his powder blue leather biker jacket and prompted us to fall in love with polka dot tights for the second time this year! She even found the time to slip in a bit of leopard print from Isabel Marant, a couple of Miu Miu handbags and some what-could-be-raunchy-but-Julia-makes-‘em-cool leather shorts from Current/Elliot. Miss Restoin Roitfeld, we cannot wait to see what outfits you pick for Paris Fashion Week.
