If there’s one thing you can confidently predict that Miuccia Prada will do – it’s the unexpected. Some clever marketing whizz has ‘leaked’ the enigmatic fact that Mrs Prada’s choice of model will be a “surprise” at the Prada ready to wear show later today.
Fashionologie quoted the insider, saying: "Just when you thought Prada had no more surprises left... this line up will shake the earth with surprise.." and another: "I can confirm that this is true... to a degree... it all depends on what your hopes are. There will be same-old but also surprises."
Now, you know we love a bit of mystery solving/fash-predicting here. (A day when we don’t dream up at least ONE unlikely fantasy scenario is a dull day indeed at Grazia Daily)
Possible models for the show –
Carey Mulligan. There is a big precedent for designers inviting their muses up onto the catwalk. (Last season was Daphne Guinness for Giles, and this week in London, Siouxsie Sioux at Pam Hogg). So perhaps the newest red-carpet recruit to the Prada cause will walk in the show – likelihood – 9/1 as a bit too predictable, plus Carey seems quite busy en ce moment.
Lady Gaga. Yes we have looked at Gaga’s style and we are familiar with Mrs Prada’s aesthetic. But then look at her in Armani Prive (!?) at the Grammy Awards, like the Spanish Inquisition her strongest weapon is the element of surprise. Likelihood – 3/1 (Also we would LOVE this to come true – and she’s wearing Prada on her tour).
A team of robot models from South Korea. Yes. Oh yes. This one seems so perfect, it’s almost too good (almost) to be true. Miuccia Prada is well known for her habit of jetting round the globe, championing the very best of the worlds of fine art and architecture, her love of technology and her famously short attention span and constant quest for the new. We think her hard yet feminine designs would look perfect on a gang of long-limbed androids. Likelihood – 20/1 (but we can dream, can’t we?)
