Ashish Gupta is fashion's modern-day answer to a fairy godmother. His signature style can be summed up in a few words; sequins, colour and more sequins. Delhi-born Ashish has not lost his cultural roots, they shine through his designs in all the glamour and colour you would expect to see in a Bollywood movie.

How then does Ashish go about adapting his flare for bright designs to a more autumn-appropriate collection? Simple answer, he doesn’t! Ashish showed a catwalk of multi-coloured sequin dresses, skirts, trousers, shorts, even his over-sized jumpers weren’t without his favourite embellishment. There was a particularly fabulous shirt in a red and black sequinned plaid design. And, with the addition of peter pan collars, sequin dresses have just become daytime appropriate – genius!

To be completely fair to Ashish, he did mix things up with more season-appropriate pieces, pairing his sequins with ‘peasant chic’ tailoring in coats and blazers, all in rather gloomy-coloured tweeds.  While Ashish is obviously responding to the fact his customers are unlikely to go out on a cold winter’s day dressed head-to-toe in sequins, the draw of his clothing is the vibrant glamour. A trawl through Ashish’s collection is sure to brighten even the most depressing of days.

 

Walking out in a piece from Ashish’s autumn/winter collection will be a Cinderella moment. Sparkle in sequins, shine in bright colours, Ashish as the fairy godmother has struck again.
