Naomi Campbell’s LFW Fashion for Relief show!

19 February 2010

After Naomi Campbell’s triumphant fundraising fashion show for Haiti on the eve on New York Fashion Week last week, she’s repeated the trick in her home town.

Yep, last night the London audience were treated to bravura turns on the catwalk by the likes of Mossy – (this really was a treat since she gave up ‘walking’ to concentrate on photographic work some years ago and these days is more likely to be found sitting in the front row than sashaying past it).

Together with Miz Campbell, Pixie Geldof plus friend and muse of the late Lee McQueen, Annabelle Neilson, Kate modelled looks from McQueen’s last collection – Atlantis, which was shown in Paris in September.

At one point poor Kate seemed to get a bit overcome by everything and leaked a few tears onto Annabelle’s shoulder.

Other highlights included a pregnant Denise Van Outen, Girls Aloud singers Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh and even Dame Shirley Bassey.

Geri Halliwell minced confidently down in a swan-lakesque mini-dress. After Agyness’s wobbly moment last week, everyone stayed firmly upright in their towering heels, including of course, those formidable sculptural shoes by Alexander McQueen as featured in Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance video.

After the glitz and poise of Diane Von Furstenberg and Donna Karan in New York last week it’s brills to see that the Brits can hold their own. And after all, if there’s one thing London knows how to do it’s an eye-popping fashion show.

Well done Naomi! The move sideways into charity events organising seems to be going swimmingly and it’s never a bad thing to have something to fall back on for when you get bored of posing.
