Marc Jacobs tried to stop celebs from attending his shows, but just couldn’t hold back the tide. He’s now grumbling about the pesky things cluttering up his front row. "I'm not into the celebrity thing . . . like we used to. That's boring." (What, like paying the celebs a fee to perch on the FROW?)
Only Gaga was invited – and she had to repay the favour by performing at his after show party. There was one other famous guest last season, Marc revealed, but MJ wasn’t quite sure how she got through the net.
"One was Madonna. She came backstage, and I was like, 'What do you do with her now?' Because it's not like she was invited. She just called and said she was coming, and we weren't holding the show for her. She just came, and that was it. There are certain things I can't control."
Ah, Marc, that’s not nice is it? We thought that you and Madge were certified BFFs. Maybe now she’s no longer the face of Louis Vuitton, its ‘Out with the old!’ as fashionable friends can be changed just as regularly as the season’s hemlines.
We LOVE Marc Jacobs. For an industry based on creativity and imagination, usually designers are very literal minded, and anxious not to offend when it comes to giving interviews. Like a character from an Oscar Wilde book, Mr Jacobs never lets the boring old truth get in the way of a good quote. And here at Grazia Daily, our jobs would be duller without him.
