Behind the Scenes Mayhem Alert!

10 February 2010

We’ve got quite used to the sight of particularly well dressed popcorn queues – What with The September Issue, Coco Avant Chanel and now Tom Ford’s A Single Man, a trip to the cinema has become a regular outing for fashionistas. This next bit of news is about a mini series rather than a cinematic release, BUT seems well worth the effort of tracking it down.

Dress doyenne Diane Von Furstenberg, hipster’s fave Alexander Wang, minimal genius Narciso Rodriguez and fashion’s king of surprises Jeremy Scott have all been filmed extensively in the run ups to their shows . . .all to be made into a series of documentaries for The Sundance Channel

Filmmakers Loic Prigent and Fabien Constant, who have previously given Jean-Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs the fly on the wall treatment, say that they never leave their subjects’ sides during film and they capture "the fittings, the last-minute dramas, the moments where seamstresses are working all night long to have the dresses fit," Constant said. "Even Jean-Paul Gaultier works on the dresses up until the last second before he pushes the girls out onto the runway."

Ooh. Cannot wait. There’s no drama like a fashion drama, now is there? In an additionally exciting twist we heard they are looking for a London designer to follow. Let’s think. Bet Christopher Kane wouldn’t mind a teeny tiny camera crew following him around, would he? Someone should let them know because we’d LOVE to wrap our eyes around the behind the scenes mayhem down his way in fashion week.
