BAFTA dress search blog: Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone…

10 February 2010

Have you ever fallen in love with a dress? Fallen so hard you find yourself sneaking a peek at its picture on the internet three times a day, then forwarding the link to your friends so they can share the utter beauty of it?
Well I fell in love with this dress.

Is it not a thing of heart-stopping beauty?
As soon as I found it, I thought the search for a BAFTA frock was over. I even felt a bit smug: my very amateur search for an awards season dress – something that would suit petite, pale-skinned, reddish haired little me – had been quick, painless and successful.
And then it happened: after weeks of perving online, safe in the knowledge I would be able to try it on before the BAFTAs, the dress turned out to be sold out in my size.
I went through the grieving process: from denial (surely someone, somewhere has a sample I could borrow? Surely??) to acceptance. And I was ready to move on. And then this happened…

In a cruel twist of fate, My Dress made its debut on Myleene Klass on slightly cheesy Friday night TV (Popstar to Operastar). Ouch. And obviously Myleene looked better than I would have.
Sigh. Does anyone know anything similar I could try? Or, if you’re reading Myleene, could I borrow it, just for one night?
