Which designer is set to walk in NYFW's Fashion for Relief show?

05 February 2010

Rumours are rife that Naomi Campbell, the brains and beauty behind Fashion for Relief, has managed to bag yet another stylish chum for her spectacular charity fashion show, which is set to rock NYFW next week. But this one’s extra special. Why? Because it’s none other than Ms Donna Karan, the American fashion designer and all round powerhouse, who’ll be taking to the catwalk.

Marc Jacobs is forever modelling his own womenswear (allowing us a sneaky peek at his tattooed pecs), Vivienne Westwood stars in her own campaigns (alongside Pammy and her hubby) and has previously paraded alongside Naomi in the name of a worthy cause, but Donna Karan is a notoriously private figure who typically shies away from the limelight.

Despite donating dresses for the previous shows, this will be the first time we’ve seen DK grace the runway for anything more than a swift finale bow. But one thing’s for sure, the designer has good strutting genes on her side because, get this fact fans, her mother is a former model. Well, it must be destiny then…

The event will be hosted by Fergie (as in the Duchess of York, not the Black Eyed Pea) on 12 February and the donated designs will be auctioned online at Net-a-Porter with funds going towards the Haiti relief effort. So which other A-listers can we expect to see joining Donna on the ramp? Judging from George Clooney’s recent star-studded Haiti telethon and the 2008 Fashion for Relief show, which saw everyone from Daisy Lowe and Cheryl Cole to, er, Cilla Black take part, it’s bound to be a celeb-crammed corker.
