Well, when we heard this news, just two words came out of our mouths – Hoo and indeed, Ray! Balmain are planning a diffusion line! The feeling of wistfulness well known to fashaholics that comes just after viewing the Balmain collections online (or in Grazia) and just before we nip down to the High St to bag ourselves a more modestly priced alternative. (Never quite the same)
Yep, Balmain, the revered French fashion house brought back to life by Christophe Decarnin is second to none when it comes to offering us a glam vision of the ultimate fashion fantasy, but when we look at the price tags its sad to realise that while these clothes really do show us what dreams are made of, unfortunately, in our dreams describes exactly how we could ever own some of them. A ‘destroyed’ tee comes with a hefty price ticket of £2000 while a glitter encrusted fabulous dress could take you all the way up to a cool £60k.
The line, which would be called Balmain Blue Label would be out in time for AW10 and prices would reportedly come in at 40% -50% of the mainline. We hope this is true and because we’re well aware that the mainline pieces still sell out even at those gasp-inducing prices, we know would be customers are going have to be on their stiletto-shod toes to get them before they go. *Sigh* We know in our hearts though, if the super-brand ever collaborated with New Look on a mini collection we wouldn’t think of them in the same way.
Oh yes. The New SS10 Balmain Ads are out featuring the talented Miss Daria Werbowy. It's Balmainia all over again!
