As Melanie Rickey advises on p 74 of this week’s Grazia, ‘a pair of kooky sunglasses’ will be a girl’s best friend this coming season. AND – unlike all other summer trends we are excited about, we can wear them all year round. Yay!
Brilliant for hiding behind when you haven’t done your makeup and good in all this snow glare we’re experiencing, Marc Jacobs' designs for Louis Vuitton are big, bold and quite seventies inspired. We think the colours are beautiful and will go perfectly with SS10 pastel shades of makeup.
The campaign pics are a bit of a departure from the usual style of photography employed in the French luxury brand’s advertising; laid back, grainy Technicolour. AND the models – a series of ‘Parisian and New York trendsetters’ are shot on Polaroid, a format that nearly died out last year when the specialist film’s production was halted – and then resurrected again to the relief of photographers everywhere.
One more thought we had while perusing the pics was: Ooh – very Sebastien Tellier. I wonder if Mr Jacobs was listening to the amorous French crooner’s work while creating this range? Somehow Grazia Daily doesn’t have too much trouble imagining the two getting on.
Well, we didn’t jet off for any ‘winter sun’ at Christmas. And we haven’t booked a summer break either. But we may well start wearing huge sunglasses to the bus stop from now on just to cheer ourselves up.
