Is this the return of the perm?

Marion Cotillard

While we all simpered over the pictures of Marion Cotillard looking so winning in her Dior outfit and loose curly ‘do on Monday, the fact that bendy rollers have such a dismal fashion rating was far from our minds.
On the catwalks for S/S '10 were various types of curl – a simple ‘40s wave at Dior, a frizzy, brushed out look at Sonia Rykiel and Marc by Marc Jacobs, afro wigs at Louis Vuitton and characteristically bonkers crimping at Jeremy Scott (with little bones for hairclips)  . . . AND at House of Holland, loose bouncy curls.

The curly-wurly look is super-pretty, quite rock and roll and far underrated. We think that it’ll be back very soon, as it ties in well with other ‘90s streetwear trends like crop tops and bumbags.

What does this mean for us, then? Whether or not everyone rushes to the hairdressers for a perm or starts wearing rollers to bed, at the very least, ladies lucky enough to have a natural wave can take a break from strenuous blow-drying and be proud of their ringlets. Why, why do we love curls so much? Grazia Daily say it’s just the way we roll.
