Here at Grazia Daily, we are more than a little obsessed with the Frenchy cheekboney charms of actress, model, singer and Depp-missus Vanessa Paradis.
Sure, there was Joe Le Taxi, but in that video she was wearing a large peach sweatshirt and an unfortunate feathered blow-dry. No, we first fell deeply in love with La Paradis while watching the magical commercial for Chanel’s Coco fragrance way back in 1992. Perched on a dinky swing inside a gilded birdcage, a tiiiny Paradis, dressed in a very Moulin Rouge-style feather-tailed basque, pouts her lips and whistles some birdsong like a couture-clad Tweety-pie. We were literally starry-eyed with the glamour of it all.
So we were delighted when we heard a couple of months ago that La Paradis would be returning to Chanel to front the campaign for Rouge Coco, Chanel’s new lipstick collection (you may recall us previously blathering on about the perfection of casting the gap-toothed beauty for a lipstick commercial).
On seeing the first behind-the-scenes images to be released from the set of the new commercial [above], we had to call the press office for verification because she looks as young and gorgeous as she did in 1992. Nous aimons Vanessa beaucoup, beaucoup, and we can’t wait to see the commercial.
And a little bird has told us that Paradis will be whistling a tune in the new commercial as a cute little nod to her original birdcage performance for Chanel. Sweet.
