This week’s most Unexpected Collaboration award goes to LVMH… and Tony Blair.
'A source close to Mr Blair' has apparently confirmed that he is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with LVMH, where he is expected to start acting in an advisory role later this year, working very closely with Bernard Arnault; the majority shareholder in LVMH, and the world’s 15th richest man, with a fortune of £10 billion.
We were hoping the former PM might be employed in some kind of fabulous muse-type capacity like Amanda Harlech or Sofia Coppola, or at least modelling in an Annie Leibowitz-shot Louis Vuitton ad, like Mikhail Gorbachev and Keith Richards. But sadly, it’s all about bizznizz; he is thought to be helping M. Arnault attract new clients to the luxury conglomerate, which already owns Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Moet champagne.
Since leaving Downing Street, the Blairs have been spotted enjoying much of Arnault’s lavish hospitality, staying aboard his yacht, Amadeus, and even visiting the Pope together at the Vatican (why don’t we have interesting friends like this?).
So far, Mr Blair's spokesman has declined to comment about his new role at LVMH, but we’ll let you know asap if he’s launching his own luxury label. Trust us, stranger things have happened...[telegraph]
