Best dressed stars for all weathers

J Lo

Look at J-Lo, strolling along in the sunshine (in Miami, huh!) by herself yet beaming all over her face. What’s she got to look so happy about? Maybe someone has just paid her a compliment on her super-elegant, Parisian-chic ensemble. Pumps, capri pants and relaxed heart jersey with her Stella bag all say ‘lookin’ good’ but not necessarily ‘trying too hard’…

Taylor Momsen

Taylor Vs Miley boot-off

With her gothy sou’wester, chunky boots and giant sunnies, Taylor Momsen has ensured she won’t be beaten by the weather – even if it throws sun, rain or sleet at her. Although there is a whiff of the ‘goth on a school trip’ about some of this outfit, she’s still a right cutey and, as we will see in the next few pictures, grungey ‘90s boots aren’t going anywhere soon…

Here she is again, looking smart in a mannish trilby, overcoat and jumbo cashmere scarf. We love the boots, Taylor, and remember rocking something similar ourselves back in the day when it was cool to paint a Nirvana symbol on your bag in Tipp-Ex…

And in the final part of her mosher boot triptych, Miss Momsen teams some patent ankle kicks with tattered acid-washes, plenty of liner and a guitar nearly as big as herself. Far too cool for school, madam.

Meanwhile, in the Cyrus corner, Miley nips for a coffee in her studded knee-highs, also plumping for some shredded denims and, being in LA, no coat!

Smiley Miley leaves a restaurant after dinner in some unbuckled biker boots, a nifty floral minidress and with a studded jacket and studded slouchy handbag. How old was she during the real '90s? About four? That could be the reason why she looks so good in the gear now.

Red-carpet ravishers

We don’t imagine Amber Valletta gets in much of a tizzy when deciding what to wear. She’d look chic in a bin bag with arm holes. Here we see her showing how to ‘do but not overdo’ a trend. Mutton chop shoulders and a scalloped neck are the only focal points of this outfit. Minimal sparkle, a clean face, nude shoes and a relaxed ‘do comprise the rest.

Marion Cotillard is the face of French couture house Dior (see her in the making of the ad on Grazia Daily) and proves her credentials here, at a cocktail party for the brand. Is it because she’s French that she can lend a fully sparkly dress an air of insouciance with only a man’s watch and a curly bubble perm to hand?

Natalie Portman tends to underdo rather than overdo her look – but it’s a tactic that seems to pay off. Over in New York it’s winter too, and she buttons her evening dress away under a belt and blazer, with black opaques and patent pixie boots. Ahh.
