Okay, so you’ve seen our round-up of the new season’s ad campaigns, and if that hasn’t got you in the mood for Spring 2010, then maybe this will. On Monday, the very first deliveries of the hotly-anticipated Alexa bag are set to arrive in-store at Mulberry!
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Alexa is Mulberry’s “brilliantly twisted take” on it’s iconic, classic Bayswater bag. The cool squashy satchel style is inspired by, and named after, hip Brit Alexa Chung, who has for ages been something of a Mulberry devotee. It’s also looking like the safest bet for ‘It Bag of 2010’.
And guess what? The waiting lists at all the stores are already as long as Alexa Chung’s legs! (Seriously, how organised are these people?)
And everyone is thinking Oak. That’s the tan leather shade – the same colour that's seen in the new Mulberry ads.
So far, the smaller size is the most popular, and it retails for £695.
The second most popular bag is the oversized Alexa in the black lambskin which retails at £995.
The next most-wanted colour is 'Ink' blue. We like.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what Alexa herself owns, fuggedaboudit. The Chung commissioned herself a bespoke bag in black patent leather that won’t be available to anyone else (quite right too). Although she does also have an oversized Alexa in – yep, you guessed it – Oak.
So if like us, you were toying with the idea of toting a squashy Oaky Alexa this season, it’s time to erm, Spring into action.
UPDATE: *squeals* apparently some of the Alexa bags are already in store, but they won’t be put out on display until the 11th. No ram raiding, please, fashion fans.
