Check out this exclusive behind-the-design-scenes picture of designers Dolce and Gabbana hard at work on their new campaign, which stars none other than Madonna as its leading lady!
It’s no secret Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce are old pals with the Queen of Pop. They have all known each other for nearly two decades now, and in our recent tech quiz with the design duo Stefano admitted to Grazia Daily that he did have a fair amount of Madge on his ipod. And although they’ve previously refrained from working together, the three have now broken with tradition. Madonna has been revealed as the new face for the Dolce & Gabbana spring line and by the looks of these first-look pictures we won’t be disappointed.
Shot by Steven Klein, the black and white shots show Madonna in an array of sensual Italian housewife scenarios, including sweeping with a broomstick, washing dishes, eating spaghetti and cutting vegetables. Inspired by old Italian films including most notably Luchino Visconti’s Bellissima, the campaign will be released in February featuring Madonna in numerous looks including leopard print and floral skirts, and crochet tops and dresses.
'The collection is very Italian, very Sicilian,' Gabbana tells WWD. 'It’s a return to our roots with a modern angle, so we asked Madonna to interpret it in a different and human way. We believe that people are ready for a new message."
