Antonio Berardi rejected Gaga!

Antonio Berardi

While we may be as obsessed as the rest of the world with Lady Gaga, it seems some people simply aren’t that fussed. Antonio Berardi has revealed he rejected an offer to work with the singer because he finds her music is meaningless.

"I was approached to design a clothing range with Lady Gaga but I knocked it back because I wasn't interested in someone whose music is meaningless," says the Italian designer, a Central St Martin’s graduate whose celeb fans include Megan Fox, Eva Mendes, Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow. "Her music is meaningless now so what impact will it have in 20 years?" Ouch!

While designers and big names such as Miuccia Prada, Nick Knight and Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci are keen to join the current Gaga love-in (Tisci's said of the lady; “I respect her very much as an actress. She doesn't represent what is my world, but I would do something special for her. Because she is a great actress. She is a really great actress”), Berardi is clearly not convinced.

Pity, we bet Lady G would’ve gone Gaga (*snort*) over some of those incredible sans-heel footwear creations Antonio is so renowned for… [NY Mag]
