What a week it’s been! From a parade of evening gowns at the BFAs to Lady Gaga’s wacky get-up fit for a meeting with the Queen, we’ve had a feast of frocks to rate and slate. But what’s this, more style delights? Yep, yesterday saw a host of A-Listers out in force for Roland Mouret's launch party and the world premiere of Avatar, so once again we’ve selected our favourite looks as seen on the likes of Demi Moore and Sigourney Weaver, but now it’s over to you to decide who should be crowned last night’s Best Dressed...
Roland Mouret's launch party
The Chateau Marmont hotel was treated to an array of brilliant brights thanks to the bevy of stars who arrived to celebrate the launch of Roland Mouret's Rainbow Collection, which is now available on Net-a-Porter (hurrah!). Dressed in the same RM by Roland Mouret silk frock Laura Bailey donned for the BFAs just a night before, Devon Aoki picked a bold yellow hue which she tempered with a dash of rock chick chic courtesy of her leather jacket and studded clutch. Fellow catwalker Heidi Klum also chose a vibrant mini-dress from the capsule collection and with that iconic silhouette that has made Mouret so popular among the fash pack, you’d never guess the uber-model gave birth less than a month ago. Continuing the colour blocking for cocktail hour but keeping it toned down was Olivia Wilde who went for the navy blue stretch silk option with long sleeves and pleated detailing across the torso. It's top of our wish list!
Roland Mouret's statement that “this collection is for young girls” may explain why Rachel Zoe, Demi Moore and Amber Valletta steered clear of the designer's high hemlined party dresses. But although they opted for a neutral colour palette of blacks and greys rather than rainbow brights, they didn’t lose an ounce of glamour. Rachel looked slender and sleek in a draped maxi dress under her RM by Roland Mouret Zephyr brocade jacket while Demi played it safe in a classic black number and Amber chose an elegant black and grey dress from Mouret's S/S 2010 RM collection. What a great turn out!
‘Avatar' World Film Premiere
Over on our side of the pond, Zoe Saldana also championed the designer when she sauntered down the, er, blue carpet for the premiere of new alien flick Avatar in London's Leicester Square. The actress stole the show in this structured RM by Roland Mouret gown with a dose of drama courtesy of puff capped sleeves and a fish-tail flare that was out of this world (sorry, couldn’t resist). Lois Winstone also played up to the flick's futuristic theme in head-to-toe green sequins and although we admire her daring colour flash, those glittering gold heels take it one sparkling step too far. Hollywood heavyweight Sigourney Weaver played it somewhat safer with her classic Grecian-esque gown but considering she’s now a 60-year-old veteran, she deserves top marks for staying sophis yet sexy with a subtle shoulder flash. Looks like something things never go out of style...
