Anna Dello Russo really has to be seen to be believed. The Fashion Director at Large and Creative Consultant for Vogue Japan doesn’t do dressed-down. Ever, it seems. Admittedly we’ve never been invited around chez Russo for a casual Sunday cup of tea and movie, but we imagine that even then she’ll be trussed up in Balenciaga evening wear and 8 inch heels. Even when we are feeling fabulous and gorgeous during Paris Fashion Week, accidentally standing next to Anna takes the wind right out of our fashion sails.

So it pleases us greatly when we realise that if we were to compete, we’d have to travel with more than one chic suitcase. Nope, we’d have to organise trunks and trunks and trunks of clothes to keep up with her. For Anna has revealed that now she is something of a fashion celebrity (she gets papped), she has had to up the fashion ante. ‘For fashion shows, I remember that I used to need 30 outfits,’ she said. ‘Today, for the fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris. I have to bring at least 90.’ That’s right, 90 outfits! But then she is also known for changing in her car between shows – which can’t be that fabulous. But can you imagine the planning? And we bet that on some mornings, she still stands in front of all the Alaia, Dolce & Gabbana, Nina Ricci, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Chanel, Prada, Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Maison Martin Margiela, she still wails, ‘I have NOTHING to wear!’ [Fashionologie]
