Model of the Year is always an exciting one. Not least because sometimes the winners get a tad emotional (ehem, Jourdan Dunn we remember you blubbing last year!) but more importantly because it tips us off for the face to watch out for. But this year, there were three really strong ladies up for the gong so we had a bit of a tough time calling it. The nominees were…
Georgia Jagger – Hudson Jeans, Rimmel, Versace – all campaigns Georgia May Jagger has snapped up… in the space of a few months. The 17-year-old has taken the industry by storm straight off the starting block, and with a striking look that totally gives away her rock royalty parentage - she’s the daughter of Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger – this is surely just the tip of the iceberg. A star is born.
Daisy Lowe – Although she’s been the face of Agent Provocateur and appeared in ads for French Connection, there’s no doubt that 2009 has been Daisy Lowe’s biggest year. She’s graced the covers of major fashion mags, become the face of Marc by Marc Jacobs, been photographed by legend Steven Meisel, fronted her mother's line for Peacocks, while also opening for PPQ and walking for Vivienne Westwood and Anna Sui earlier this year. But of course, the big thing that now springs to mind when you think of Daisy is Louis Vuitton. The 20-year-old jetted out to Miami last month to shoot an accessories campaign for the luxury label. Amazing!
Rosie Huntington Whiteley – This year started off pretty damn well for Rosie. In January, she replaced the one and only Kate Moss as the face of Agent Provocateur, starring in a steamy ad that truly cemented her model credentials. And if that wasn’t enough, this year Rosie finally got her wings. After modelling for Victoria’s Secret since 2006, she made her debut as an Angel at the VS Fashion Show in November, flying the flag for Britain. She will also appear in the iconic Pirelli calendar for 2010. Oh, and she’s related to the Queen. Kudos.
And the winner is… Georgia Jagger!
After picking up her award, she told us that Grazia is her favourite fashion magazine, Donatella gave her a heap of clothes after shooting the Versace campaign and the dress she chose for the event is a Vivienne Westwood number that she stole from sister Lizzy's wardrobe! PLUS check out this exclusive look at Georgia's latest campaign for Hudson Jeans! Shot by Mario Sorrenti, it shows a beeee-autiful Miss Jagger wearing a jacket which was made exclusively for her (lucky girl). And luckily for us, it hits Selfridges this week priced at £250! Just don't show up at the same 'do' as us wearing it, okay?
