WATCH VICTORIA BECKHAM LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET!

09 December 2009

VICTORIA BECKHAM LIVE! on stolen dresses, David the designer and her outfit tonight...

So we were gazing at James Corden (yes!) on the red carpet, admiring what he was calling his pale blue ‘Spanish waiter’ tuxedo suit, when something sleek and poised glided into our peripheral vision – Victoria Beckham!

She had her back to us, and the handwritten tattoo that snakes up her spine and her neck was clearly visible in a low draped back floor length. She’s very tanned. She’s still rocking the lacquered up-do we were so fascinated with this morning, and there’s a lot of dark blue winged eyeshadow going on, and beige lipgloss. The long-sleeved dress, a kind of dark blue-y-charcoal colour, clung to her hips and legs in a 1940s fishtail style, with gold beaded and studded padded shoulders (go, Victoria!). Of course, it was one of her own designs. No sign of the shoes – we’ll take a guess at sky-high heels - but she’s surprisingly tiny (short, and also, not-so-surprisingly, super-slim).

All eyes were on the gigantic bright blue rock (quite possibly the Taylor Burton diamond itself) she was wearing on one finger. She was also wearing huge diamond stud earrings - and you just know those babies are real too.

Here’s what she told us..

Victoria, what is your best style tip?

Wear what suits you, rather than what might be the dress of the season. I always believe in investment, buy something you can really use, not just season to season, but year to year.

What do you think will be the big trend next year?

I'm hoping it's going to be my collectioin! Definitely a pair of my new jeans from my new denim collection which I’ve just launched!

Were you devastated about having your collection stolen?

At the end of the day, I’m so lucky to be doing what I’m doing. I’ve had a lot of luck this year with the collections, and how well they’ve been received, the sell-through [to stores] has been fantastic. Every now and then this kind of thing happens. It’s sad, a lot of people worked really hard, but there’s a lot worse things that are happening to people out there.

Are you looking forward to your sister’s wedding at the end of the year?

Really excited. Her husband-to-be is just wonderful. It's going to be really nice for Christmas – a nice atmosphere, to be having a wedding a couple of days after Christmas – so we’re very excited.

Would David ever bring out a fashion collection ?

David has a line he works with a designer on in America – that’s for Adidas. David loves fashion, he loves clothes, but to be a designer is not something he wants to do. I think he’s got enough on his plate at the moment, but never say never!

Can you talk Grazia Daily through your outfit?

This is one of my dresses from my new collection.

And what’s it inspired by?

I love old Hollywood glamour so that played a huge part in the inspiration with the new collection – it's just flattering it’s not tooo complicated, a little bit glittery for Christmas which is always nice  too.

That ring is amazing! Is that a blue diamond?

It is.

Why did you want to be here tonight?

I’m just here to celebrate 25 years (of London Fashion Week) which was a lot of fun. I love Britain, I’m very very proud to be British, I have a fantastic customer base here, amazing support form the best retailers. I love coming back to England and I come back as much as I can – I have to a lot for work – but I always try to time it in with what the kids are doing.

Now that you’re living in LA do you still support British fashion?

I love British fashion. I love the way that in Britain people are always trying to push the envelope. I love seeing what people are wearing. And it's exciting to see who is going to be the new young British designer.

And will you be watching what people are wearing?

Absolutely! I do that if I’m walking around the supermarket or out at an event! I don’t know who’s going to be here tonight. I’m excited to have been invited, and to be able to celebrate 25 years of London Fashion Week.
