I have a confession to make: my name's Hannah Marriott and I am a film-o-holic. As such, I was beyond excited to be invited to join the prestigious judging panel for the BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award, which celebrates up-and-coming movie talent.
So, last week, I joined a dozen film luminaries (including last year’s winner – Noel ‘Adulthood’ Clarke and Jason ‘Lucius Malfoy’ Isaacs, on day release from Hogwarts), at BAFTA HQ in London for a morning of heated debate, followed by a secret ballot. The results – a shortlist of five actors and actresses – will be announced on 12 January, after which the public can vote for one winner. In the five years the award has been going, it has named the likes of James McAvoy, Eva Green and Shia LaBeouf as stars in the making, so it’s fair to say the jury knows its onions.
And guess what? As a jury member, I get to go to the BAFTAs in February! And sit on the judges table. Which is incredible… but means I’ll be having a wardrobe crisis till February. I'll keep you updated on everything, from what to wear, to the eternal dilemma (to spray tan or not to spray tan?), plus the all-important shortlist (of names, not dresses) at Graziadaily from now through to February. Until then, I'm squeaking with excitement. Eek!
And if you have any ideas about what I should wear... all suggestions very gratefully received!
