Last night’s best dressed: ‘Nine’ World Premiere

nine premiere

There was quite a fashion flutter in London last night as Hollywood’s finest leading ladies arrived for the UK premiere of bound-to-be-fabulous film ‘Nine’ dressed in an array of stunning ensembles. But spare them a thought because when you’re co-starring alongside Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Fergie, Judi Dench and Sophia Loren, there’s some pretty fierce competition in the wardrobe department. So who do you think came out on top? Rate them or slate them below...

kate hudson

First up is Kate Hudson looking every inch the Hollywood goddess in her glamourous Atelier Versace ball gown. The beaded bodice perfectly nips in her waist before cascading into an opulent skirt complete with thigh-flashing hemline and uber-long train. We’re in absolute awe.

penelope cruz

Alongside Kate was Penelope Cruz who nailed red carpet glamour thanks to her figure flatterer from Ralph Lauren’s latest catwalk collection. Embellished with glistening beads leading into layers of chiffon ruffles, the pale blue dress was an instant show-stopper and complete with a matching Ralph Lauren clutch, Pen is pure elegance.

Nicole Kidman

Also lighting up Leicester Square was Nicole Kidman who chose a formal suit rather than a dazzling frock. She made the most of her killer legs by flaunting them in a short and sweet pleated skirt but wisely covered up against the winter weather with a structured white jacket. Very sophisticated but a tad disappointing. Here’s hoping she cracks out a corker for the next premiere...

dame judi dench

Dame Judi Dench enlivened the red carpet with her vibrant full-length dress by Betty Jackson, accenting the lime green hue with gold accessories.

Tolula Adeyemi

We've barely seen Tolula Adeyemi out of her OTK boots lately so we love the fact she's rocking such an elegant look. The model and socialite braved the cold in this vintage Dolce & Gabbana gown with lace up panels but rocked it up a notch with her oh-so-trendy blue nails and embellished Louis Vuitton bag.

tamara beckwith

When Rihanna made that Dolce & Gabbana A/W ‘09 puff-sleeve suit her own at the Met Ball earlier this year, we didn’t expect to see it working the red carpet again. And especially not by queen bee of British 'It'-eratti, Tamara Beckwith. But the socialite gave the get-up her own spin by mixing the mannish jacket with lace for a softer twist and glamourised with lavender accessories and a pair of peep toe heels. Good work!

Shingai Shoniwa

And finally, we couldn’t bypass mentioning the latest outing for David Koma’s ‘dustbin lid’ design. Following in the fashionable footsteps of Cheryl Cole and Beyonce, Shingai Shoniwa chose a black dress from the designer’s A/W ‘09 collection and played up to the dramatic embellishments with a cropped red jacket and playful multi-coloured clutch. And so the Noisettes front woman’s fashwan status is cemented.

  • Kate Hudson looks fabulous, the dress is amazing, red carpet dressing as it's best.
Penelope looks a little frumpy in that dress, I can't pin point why, she just does!
Nicoles outfit is awful, she looks like she is trying to do the naughty school girl look in lighter tones.
Dame Judi Dench looks good, she has chosen gorgeous accessories, and more importantly avoided the mutton dressed as lamb situation that seems to occur regularly on the red carpet.
Tolula look elegant, but I would have finished the look with a smaller clutch.
Tamara Beckwith looks great, I love the lace touch, but I would have gone for more striking shoes!
I love the playful twist that Shingai Shoniwa has put on the David Korma dress, so much more original that Cheryls (lets face it, quite chavvy) approach to it!

  • wow the dustbin dress is getting lots of press, shoniwa looks good in it although feels like everyone has worn it now.
Adeyemi is really looking amazing this year, for me her style ratings have totally gone up this year. The dress looks like it was made for her.Great choice.really like how she accessorised it.that necklace is a beaut!
Penelope is a smouldering vixen, think the dress is slightly frumpy.Nicole Kidman looks a bit out of place, she looks really under dressed.

  • erm, did everyone give their stylist the night off?Penelope cruz actually looks shapeless in that lavender monstrosity,Nicole looks like she's on her way to an inappropriate job interview,Tolula looks great...if this was 2001,Tamara looks like the george@asda version of rihanna and Shingai is wearing every accessory at once! Dressing these ladies could be done with your eyes closed and unfortinately it looks like that's what happened.
