There’s never a dull moment with Lily Allen. The feisty singer/song writer/model/designer is never afraid to say what she thinks and always keeps us on our toes (and on the dance floor with her catchy lyrics). Which is why we love her oh so much. And now, despite the platinum success of her recent second album It’s Not Me, It’s You, Lil has surprised the biz by announcing she’s taking at least a two-year break from making music to concentrate on fashion!
The singer has spoken about her plans to start her own record label as well as open a fashion boutique with her sister. And not just any boutique, oh no. Lucy In Disguise will be a fashion rental store so we can hire out gorgeous garb without breaking the bank. Genius.
"It's about making fashion democratic," says Lily. "That's the idea behind it. It's about getting really nice clothes but letting people rent them for affordable prices so they can go out and feel like a million dollars and it won't cost them a million dollars." Spoken like a true recessionista! We reckon Lily is a smart cookie taking this fashion-forward move. From her clothing range for New Look way back in 2007 (my, my, how far she’s come since then, eh?) to a quirky jewellery line earlier this year and being Karl Lagerfeld’s muse as the beautiful face of Chanel, she’s always proved herself as unique, edgy and tres fashion-savvy. Best of luck to you, Lily! And, if you’re reading this, an invitation to the store launch wouldn’t, y’know, go amiss… [Daily Mirror]
