While the stars of the music world chose some show-stopping frocks for the announcement of the Grammy nominees, the British fash pack were wrapped up for winter with a quirky twist when they walked the red carpet at the UK premiere of 'Where The Wild Things Are'. So take a look at the various looks on offer last night via our compilation of the best dressed celebs and let us know who gets your seal of approval...
The Grammy Nominations Concert
Never one to shy away from flashing the flesh, Katy Perry was back to her presenting best for the Grammy Nominations Concert in LA dressed in an embroidered frock that made the most of her, ehem, assets. But teamed with a pair of lavender Casadei platforms and matching metallic nails, Katy’s trademark flair of fun keeps the Ema Savahl number on the right side of sexy. Meanwhile, Fergie took a leaf out of Rihanna’s look book by turning rock chick and piling on as many winter trends as possible. She worked a black version of the chainmaille dress by design duo The Blonds that Ri Ri wore last week and with those fierce shoulder spikes, leather gloves and glistening crystal embellishments, Fergie has all bases covered. The addition of her Louboutin heels inject a dash of femininity.
'Where The Wild Things Are' premiere
Over on our side of the pond, a host of stars cracked out their glad rags for the 'Where The Wild Things Are' premiere in London’s Leicester Square but wisely kept their looks weather appropriate. Just check out Daisy Lowe whose quirky choice of winter warmers takes the animal print trend to a whole new level! We’re a little bit in love with her tiger scarf and those matching mittens which look like a couple of playful puppets to perfectly suit the the fantasy film and bring a fun twist to her Azzadine Alaia dress. No surprises then that both the scarf and gloves are created by wacky designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac who can always be relied on to bring a touch of humour to fashion proceedings. Georgia May Jagger also kept it cosy courtesy of her printed Vivienne Westwood Autumn/Winter ‘09 dress teamed with deep red Louboutins, dressed down by a casual cool leather jacket. Our style crush just gets better and better!
Looking like she’d had a rummage in Michael Jackson’s wardrobe, Miquita Oliver oozed cool when she walked the red carpet. We’re giving the presenter top marks for mixing her high waisted trousers with a pair of masculine lace-ups and that cropped velvet jacket over a white shirt is just divine. Topping it all off with a funky hat gives the monochrome look a final kick. Also braving the rain was notorious wild thing Karen O who created the film’s soundtrack. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer kept it glam goth in a full-skirted dress clinched by a belt and covered up by a puff shoulder jacket. Good work with the bright red lip and matching cocktail ring too.
