Louboutin on JLo’s ‘Louboutins’!

02 December 2009

When we found out JLo was releasing a song called Louboutins, we were intrigued. And then after hearing it (and seeing the singer’s now infamous ‘did she or didn’t she’ tumble at the American Music Awards) we were hooked. Who knew that hearing the lady sing “Throwin’ on my Louboutins” over and over and over again (in fact, she mentions the designer’s name a whopping 45 times) could be so catchy? And apparently Mr Louboutin himself is in agreement!

"Jennifer told me about the song back in January, and I was extremely flattered," said the iconic shoe king. "But of course, in America the public pronounces my name in like a million different ways. So Jennifer called me, and she was like, 'Listen, I want to make sure that I get it right.' And she did... from the very first time!" (FYI, we’ve been officially told it’s loo-boo-taan)

And while, for us, ‘Louboutins’ may just be one of those tunes we’ll always run onto the dance floor for (although sadly not in our custom-made Louboutins as JLo had for the AMAs and her music video), but probably won’t lose sleep over, it seems to have given Mr Louboutin some fashion food for thought…

"I know the song by heart now. Because the brilliant part of the single is that it's not about me. It's about a girl and her shoe. When something is so in mass culture and you have almost nothing to do with it, it's kind of cool. It's weird but not disagreeable. But it got me thinking: I've been around for a while!" That you have, Christian, and we’re sure not complaining. [Fashion Week Daily]
