So three weeks ago, Grazia Daily helped launch a thrilling new one-off award from the British Fashion Council to find the style icon who best embodies ‘the spirit of London…as a leading creative fashion capital… ‘.

The award, to celebrate 25 years of London Fashion Week, is the BFC’s first award in which the nominees will be put to a public vote; giving you the opportunity to be part of the British Fashion Awards, by voting for your favourite.

The winner will be announced at the British Fashion Awards ceremony on Wednesday December 9th, so you only have two more days to vote!

And now, for the first time, Grazia Daily can exclusively reveal the front runners for the style icon award.

(As they say on the X Factor), “in no particular order…” the top five spots are currently occupied by Alexander McQueen, Alexa Chung, Joan Burstein, Kate Moss and Vivienne Westwood.

McQueen and Westwood are, of course, two of our finest British designers of all time, so perhaps it’s not surprising to see them at the top of the poll. When you think of British style icons, naturally Kate Moss springs to mind, and who hasn’t become obsessed with the wardrobe of British style export Alexa Chung in recent years? The wild card in the pack is Joan Burstein.

For those of you who don’t know, Mrs Burstein - as she is universally known in the industry - is the owner of the globally influential Browns boutique. More than just a buyer and store owner, Burstein is a fashion eye extraordinaire, who knows when she sees the Real Deal – John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan all got their breaks when their debut collections were put in the store’s prestigious windows. And as you can see, the octogenarian Burstein also has a wardrobe that we would kill for….We think it’s great that Mrs B is getting this recognition.

So what do you think of the results so far?
