Forget slipping into your sweat pants and indulging in a turkey dinner, these Hollywood A-Listers chose to shun tradition by donning their finery and celebrating Thanksgiving at a swanky soirée in Marrakech. The celebrity circus of stars, including Gwyneth and Jen, arrived at the re-opening of majestic Moroccan hotel La Mamounia after its three-year renovation. Let’s check out the event’s best dressed...

Gwyneth Paltrow

After giving full-length gowns a break on her recent red carpet outings, Gwyneth Paltrow was back to her Grecian goddess best in this glamourous custom-made Donna Karan S/S ‘10 frock with an asymmetric neckline and elegant draping in a sari style. Very slender and sleek! As ever, Gwyn steered clear of over-accessorizing, limiting herself to a pair of standout gold wedges and a playful pink lip to bring some interest to the peachy-perfect palette. Much to our appreciation, Juliette Binoche also decided to ditch going back to black and instead simmered in a ruby red Lanvin dress with corsage detailing on the halter neck to add a little drama (albeit slightly limp drama...). What ideal choices to suit the event’s luxurious mood.

Proving that floor length black gowns will always have mileage, Miranda Kerr was the first of three attendees who choose the classic style for the occasion. Orlando Bloom’s missus looked fabulous with a new raven-hued hair do to match her beautiful Burberry number and by keeping those killer curves all covered-up, she looks positively statuesque. Joining Miranda on the red carpet was fellow model Daria Werbowy who worked her signature laid back sensibility in a zip-up frock teamed with metallic jewellery and ankle boots to channel her inner rock chick. No wonder these two are both counted among the world’s most valuable models...

Jennifer Anistonsalma hayek

Jennifer Aniston admitted that she last visited the legendary hotel 10 years ago - who’s guessing she wore exactly the same dress? Yep, Jen stuck to her trademark head-to-toe black in this low-cut Celine frock accented by Azzedine Alaia sandals and gold accessories. Another star who clearly knows the power of the trend is Salma Hayek but thankfully she enlivened her one-shouldered Gucci gown with an attention grabbing brooch and sleek up ‘do, turning her billowing sleeve into the main focal point. Glamour deluxe!
