As part of its mission to get the nation’s girls glammed up to the max in the Christmas party countdown, Topshop has secured dress donations from celebrities including Kate Moss and Dita Von Teese for a charity initiative called Dress Me Up. Shoppers will be able to hire the dresses for up to four days from December 7-23. For a peek at the dresses check out this week's Grazia and our gallery below. The dresses will cost £40 to hire and will be auctioned off in January with all profits going to to charities Age UK and Age Concern, supporting the elderly.
One of the outfits available for hire will be a one-off dress made by East London designer and all round Queen of Cool Miss Jacqueline White for her muse and (styling client) Ty Bulmer, fiercesome frontwoman of the band New Young Pony Club. Miss White has her own T-shirt range available on www.missjacquelinewhite.com
Featuring beautifully hand appliqued designs, the shirts are embroidered with slogans she, er, picked up (!) on London’s singles’ scene. That’s right, the forthright designer has decided to get her revenge on all those disappointing dates by immortalising their problematic pillow talk on her tops. Slogans include “As a woman you have nothing to offer the world” and the charming “Just don’t fall in love with me”. If the man in your life is something of a bounder, feel free to direct him to a polo shirt emblazoned ‘Rascal’, ‘Fool’ or something stronger. Jacqueline earned her stripes working for brands in Paris and Italy before returning to London to work as a stylist for TV and London’s leftfield popstrels like Ty. The T shirt range is her first project as a designer under her own label, but she’s a one to watch: surely a designer with an eye for a press-worthy back story as keen as her eye for colour combinations will go far. How naugh-tee!
