Dsquared2 TV show ad!

DSquared2

When we spoke to quirky urban design duo Dean and Dan Caten (that’s Dsquared2 to you fashion-savvy lot…) about their new reality TV show a few months ago, it was just a distant dream in the production pipeline. But the finishing touches have been made and Launch My Line aired in the US last night.

Launch My Line teams 10 existing designers with aspiring designers who are already front-runners in another field. Cue a motley group including a fashion writer (who reminds us of a cross between the Mad Hatter and The Joker), an architect who designed a home for the legendary Frank Sinatra, a choreographer who’s worked with Justin Timberlake and Usher, a jewellery designer, a CEO, a music producer and an event planner. The pairs undertake a different design challenge each week, and are then judged in front of a live studio audience. The eventual winning entrepreneur gets their own fashion line and a shoot in Lucky magazine, while the designer gets $50,000 (about £30,000). Losers each week are met with a pretty classic elimination quip. 'Your line has been dropped,' from Dean and Dan (although we still think it doesn’t hold a candle to Paris Hilton’s cutting 'TTYN talk to you never' on her show…) and we reckon this will just be the tip of the iceberg as far as witty one-liners are concerned.

Launch My Line is only being shown Stateside at the moment (boo), but we’ve found this great advert so you can check out what’s in store if the show ever gets picked up over here (pretty please, lovely people at the Bravo channel!) Enjoy.
