From Agy to Alexa, our favourite fashion frontrunners were working the latest trends into their wardrobes last night. The red carpet saw goth glam get-ups galore as Twilight: New Moon premiered in the Big Apple while old favourites including leopard-print accents and tailored jackets also made an impact. Check out the best of yesterday’s bewitching trendsetters below...
Vamp it up
Since the recent phenomenon of all things vampire, we’ve noticed quite the gothic resurgence with many notable celebs turning to the dark side for style inspiration. And as the latest Twilight flick hits, undead chic has never been sexier. Just check out our very own Agyness Deyn who rocked up to the film’s New York premiere dressed in an Victorian-inspired ensemble. The antique lace and layers on her feminine frock juxtaposed with the hardness of her chain-embellished bag, leather gloves and structured black bob provides the perfect dose of quirky coolness. Well, we wouldn’t expect anything less... Also getting gothic alongside Agy was Taylor Momsen who’s become quite the pro at nailing shadowy sophistication. Playing up to the dark undertones of the trend, the Gossip Girl star worked a noir lacey number contrasted against her ghostly pale make-up and blood-red lips. Meanwhile on our side of the pond, Daisy Lowe was bang on trend when she walked the red carpet for the Pirelli Calendar launch yesterday. The model encompassed the look in a very vampy Jasmine Di Milo gown with sexy sheer detailing and striking red nails in the same hue as Taylor’s. Looks like goth glam is set to stay long after Twi-mania dies down...
Walk on the wild side
Again and again we spot the stars turning to leopard print to bring an interesting twist to their winter wardrobes. Step forward Alexa Chung who was dressed in yet another full-skirted prom dress at the New Moon premiere but added an accent to her dark ensemble with a leopard-print bucket bag. We want! Pixie Geldof also mastered the trend by incorporating it into her outfit courtesy of one statement piece. By keeping the rest of her ensemble understated, she allows all the focus to rest on the cutting-edge print without going over board. Smart move. But if you really want the wow factor, just look to Miranda Kerr who was ravishing in an animal-influenced Christian Dior S/S ‘08 dress while on the prowl at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. What a stunner!
As much as we love a girly minidress, here at Grazia we’re quite enamored with the androgynous look, as perfectly executed by Eva Herzigova last night. She joined Daisy at the London launch of the Pirelli Calendar dressed in an incredibly sharp suit and used a small amount of colour on her clutch as the perfect punctuation against the stark palette. Similarly, Jessica Szohr chose a modest monochrome ensemble in a dramatic contrast to her co-stars Leighton and Blake who’ve been spotted in some serious shockers recently. Clad in a simple black tuxedo jacket accented by an ivory top with lace cuffs exposed, the actress was head-to-toe flawless. How refreshing!
