What do you get when you cross an edgy magazine guru with one of the most iconic fashion brands in the world? Why, the Chanel magazine of course! If being the eccentric front man of the label wasn’t enough, now Karl Lagerfeld has teamed up with Purple’s Olivier Zahm to produce the label’s first in-house mag. 31 Rue Cambon, named after Chanel’s first ever boutique (a handy bit of Chanel trivia for you there) will be distributed worldwide in Chanel stores and is set to be gorgeous, if this preview on Olivier’s blog is anything to go by. We’re expecting lots and lots of amazing photos (after all, Purple are renowned for their artistic fashion photography) and hopefully some sexy shots of Baptiste thrown in there.
We reckon it’s classic Karl to put out a free magazine that will rival YSL’s annual manifesto (the two designers’ competitive feud during their careers is the stuff of fashion legend…) Launched by Creative Director Stefano Pilati, YSL’s manifesto showcases the brand’s greatest hits for spring as modelled by big names including Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer and Gisele Bundchen. It’s available online as well as on the streets of major fashionista cities
