Marc Jacobs hearts VB designs!

When a respected designer like Marc Jacobs praises a new designer, you have to sit up and take notice… So who is this new designer that Marc rates so highly? None other than Victoria Beckham. While he 'reserves judgement' on celebrity fashion lines (read: doesn’t think much of…), Marc has placed his friend VB at the top of the pack, praising her work ethic and talent. In an interview yesterday with The Times, Marc says:

'I’ll reserve judgment on celebrity lines in general, but I think Victoria’s in a different category. She’s really working her ass off. She knows her body very well and she’s making something that really appeals to women who want beautifully made, figure-conscious clothes that aren’t vulgar. I wouldn’t say she asks my advice, but she’s always keen to learn. She’s lovely.'

Getting the nod from industry giant like Jacobs, is of course, the ultimate seal of approval for any up-and-coming designer. And with a rave review like this, we’re sure Posh is very happy (as if Elle Macpherson and JLo wearing her designs wasn’t a boost enough). Jacobs and Beckham became friends during her time living in America. Victoria was even the face of the Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 campaign, featuring in a series of striking, albeit pretty weird, adverts.

In one, she’s curled up in a foetal position on the floor, and in another she’s holding an almost robotic pose sporting a black feather fringe. One shot shows just her legs dangling out from a Marc Jacobs bag. Still, who are we to question Mr Jacobs, right?
