The A-listers are clearly in the spirit for fireworks, as yesterday saw red carpets awash with glitz and glamour. There was more shine and shimmer than the Strictly Come Dancing wardrobe, getting us in a fittingly festive mood for bonfire night. But before you grab your sparklers and get your sequined glad rags out, have a perusal at these stunners...
First up is Eva Mendes, who glistened in an amazing multicoloured frock at the screening of her new film The Bad Lieutenant. We love that plunging neckline which mirrors the asymmetric hemline and what a wise choice to keep hair and make-up to a minimum, allowing the Chris Benz gown to captivate the Hollywood crowd. Another shimmering star was Natalie Imbruglia, who appeared on Italian X Factor dressed in an embellished minidress with enormous spaceman-style buckled boots that would be perfect for stomping through the snow, but looked too clumpy for the tiny popstress as she danced about the stage. Doing her bit for the Brits, Princess Beatrice continued the trend for all things sequined in this glittering gold dress that’s a refreshing alternative to all the plain LBDs that have been dominating the red carpet recently. Bravo!
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Diane Kruger is one lady who knows how to dazzle! She stole the spotlight from Angelina courtesy of that jewel-encrusted Atelier Versace gown at the Inglourious Basterds premiere this summer and, last night, she was just as show-stopping in this midnight blue Chanel frock with pretty peplum skirt. Another lady in blue was Georgina Chapman, who launched her collection for Garrad dressed in a feathered mini with bejewelled detailing. Quite the eye-catcher! And our obsession du jour, Georgia May Jagger, also grabbed attention and scrubbed up rather well when shooting the latest Rimmel London ads. She worked a sexy sparker that was just the ticket to prove that her mum’s model ways have clearly rubbed off. What a twinkle!
Muse of the moment Leigh Lezark echoed the night’s penchant for all things blue at Chanel’s charity benefit. Although she looked a little awkward considering the girly look doesn’t match her too-cool-for-school signature style, the decision to wear the chiffon dress with feminine floral embellishment is nonetheless praiseworthy. Cameron Diaz also opted for a similar colour palette when she arrived at The Box premiere looking effortlessly chic. The actress set off the beautiful blue of her RM by the designer Roland Mouret shift with glistening gold accessories and, with her scraped-back hair drawing attention to the statement of the season – shoulder pads, Cam shows she’s become one sophisticated lady.
