Being replaced by a younger model can’t be easy, so we hope Madonna isn’t feeling too hard done by after losing her ‘Face of Louis Vuitton’ crown to 25-year-old Lara Stone. The gap-toothed beauty will be taking over from Madge, to front the LV S/S ‘10 campaign, bringing a touch of Brigitte Bardot-esque edge to the luxury fashion label. The shoot will be done in NY by legendary fashion photographer Steven Meisel, who incidentally is a close friend of Madonna’s, having photographed her for Vuitton as well as for her 1992 book Sex. Now, if we’re honest, we were a bit surprised by this one as the mahoosive LV gig is usually reserved for A-listers like Jennifer Lopez or Scarlett Johansson, or more well-known models (the spring/summer '08 campaign featured mega models Naomi Campbell, Angela Lindvall, Natalia Vodianova, Stephanie Seymour, Eva Herzigova and Claudia Schiffer). So this is confirmation that Stone has finally made it into the big league, and we love imagining the gorgeous, quirky look Lara – who has previously modelled as the face of Givenchy and CK jeans – will bring to the brand, especially with model star-maker Meisel at the photographic helm. My my, hasn’t she come far since that tumble at the ’06 Karl Lagerfeld show…
