If you are of a certain age, Thierry Mugler sums up the ‘90s. Or more specifically, his video for George Michael’s Too Funky does, and the smell of his massively successful perfume, ‘Angel’. But if you are a bit younger, then to you Mugler might be forever associated with Beyonce – for who he designed the costumes for her recent tour. But of course he is a lot more than just that. His hard ‘armour’ designs with exaggerated shoulders and teeny tiny waists have influenced a legion of young fashion designers. And now it looks like he is coming back to influence some more. Thierry shut his couture house in 2003, and reopened last year with ex-Paco Rabanne designer Rosemary Rodriguez at the helm. But although there have been a number of small menswear collections and a small capsule women’s collection last summer, he hasn’t really jumped back into the world of Ready to Wear. Until now. Rumours are that Thierry and Rosemary are planning to relaunch womenswear with a full show during Paris Fashion Week next October. But how on earth is Thierry going to out shoulder Balmain? Hmm, something tells us that he will give it his best shot. Get spritzing 'Angel' now and check out our gallery in celebration!
