Every year, Central Saint Martins releases a little league of super-talented fashion designers out into the big world of high-fashion, high-street and high-unemployment. For all of them fall into one of those categories. But thankfully the majority swim, rather than sink. In recent years we’ve seen Mary Katrantzou, Michael Van Der Ham, Louise Gray and Natascha Stolle all go from strength to strength, as they seduce both the critics and the public alike. Now it is the turn of David Koma. The Georgian born designer graduated from St Martins earlier this year and has won over an audience with his coloured-glass embellished dresses and cracked leather separates, and is already proving a hit with an A-list audience. Megan Fox, Lady Gaga and recently, Noisettes front-woman, Shingai Shoniwa, have all been spotted wearing his sculptural mini dresses, but it seems his biggest ambassador may be the biggest diva of them all. When we met him this morning, David told us that Beyonce loves the collection and wants to meet him. Naturally he was excited, as we are about seeing ‘Crazy in Love’ herself wearing a power-shouldered, tangerine, body-con, mini dress, as she belts out a tune. After all David Koma makes dresses for confident, super-sexual woman, but to be honest we think his dresses do all that for you.
