When we saw Natalie Imbruglia leaving London hotspot Chinawhite last week wearing some seriously sexy specs, we decided to rekindle our romance with the Geek Chic look. Not since Clark Kent donned his thick black frames have glasses been so now. And, as luck would have it, Specsavers are holding their annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards tonight in honour of their 25 years in the glasses biz. Sophie Ellis Bextor will be working the DJ decks and Erin O’Connor will be gracing the guest list, as the ultimate celebrity in spectacles is announced. So, that got us thinking, who are our top framed fashionistas?

“These days it’s all about celebs using glasses as accessories,” says Amanda Fry at Specsavers. “Just think of the big chic frames we’re seeing on the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Alexa Chung.” And the best way to wear your glasses?

“If you have a round face, go for smaller frames which will compliment your look more,” advises Amanda. “Heavy, classic frames are good during the day, followed by acetate or even fun printed frames for the evening. If you wake up and you’re not feeling your best, instead of taking the time putting lots of make-up on, you can put on a pair of specs and they’ll make you feel so much better.”
