This is the second time this week we’ve caught wind of Gucci going all hi-tech on us. First, they unveiled their seriously glam social networking site Eyeweb where users can upload photos to play as a slideshow over an image of the new Gucci sunglasses. And now they’ve revealed there’s a Gucci app for the iPhone and iPod Touch! The brand’s creative director, Frida Giannini, has teamed up with none other than music producer extraordinaire Mark Ronson to create the app which gives users the chance to be part of the tres sophis Gucci lifestyle.
‘What’s in store?’ you ask. Well, get this: access to exclusive Gucci products, Frida and Mark’s personal playlists, videos, fashion shows, news, events, latest collections, store listings and even the software to mix your own music. You can even listen to the Gucci music channel and rifle through their Little Black Book, which is full of info on the top international hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs, including Frida’s own recommendations. Phew!
"Apps are the new virtual accessory, so I approached the design of Gucci's first app in the same way I do with a bag or shoe from my collections," says Frida. "I looked to provide the essence of the Gucci lifestyle experience in a way that takes full advantage of the technological capabilities of the revolutionary iPhone and iPod touch. Of course Mark Ronson's contribution ensures that the Gucci App is truly unique."
Now, although it’s taken us a while to get our heads round this one, we reckon it sounds pretty awesome, especially since the app is free with all iPhones and iPod Touches! Just visit the App Store or go to www.itunes.com/appstore/ to download it. We wonder what’ll be on Frida’s playlist… perhaps the amazing soundtrack from a certain Mr Ford’s new film? Hmmm…
