While the guest of honour, Donatella pulled out all the stops to go down the sexy route (just like her mini-me LiLo) in a gown direct from the S/S ‘10 Versace catwalk, Emily Blunt, Becki Newton and Zoe Saldana kept it sweet and simple in classic shifts. We’re loving the ruched effect of Zoe’s fresh Calvin Klein dress to create an uneven hemline and how pretty is Emily’s sash belt? It adds the perfect waist definition and the feminine bow keeps the dress from entering snoozeville. Meanwhile, Taylor Momsen carried off an ethereal gown from Versace’s A/W ‘09 collection but dared to pair it with fishnets, black nail polish and smokey eyes to stay true to her signature rock chick chic.
Blue – in a variety of shades – was a popular choice last night and when worn with minimal jewelery and soft waves, it makes a major statement. Chanel Iman, Alexa Chung and Diane Kruger sported shorter dresses and were a breath of fresh air among the more conventional fashion choices. Chanel’s sumptuously coloured A/W ‘09 Versace dress included a sexy twist thanks to the same metallic streaks as Taylor Momsen’s gown while Diane added a pair of polka-dot tights to her printed Balenciaga frock for added interest. She also accented the blue hue with a bright pink clutch and Mischa Barton followed suit by adding some colour popping yellow to her midnight blue number. It was great to see Mischa back on fashion form and she elevated the standard with this figure-fitting satin gown.
Kanye’s girl, Amber Rose, knows how to flaunt her fab physique and this ruffled frock with sweetheart neckline did just that, but she needs to do more than use her god given gifts if she wants to match the fash pack. Speaking of which, Lake Bell wore one of the evening's loveliest looks in her floor-sweeping gown with wrap around waist and plunging neckline for a Grecian effect. The dress was accented on one shoulder with the Versace metallic strip, creating interesting asymmetrical angles. Renée Zellweger also chose a hot red hue with her structured Carolina Herrera dress and although it’s certainly attention grabbing, the actress fails to outshine the other attendees.

Donning a silver frock is a sure fire way to look futuristic but there’s a fine line between tasteful and tacky, as these two ladies prove. While Leigh Lezark firmly staked her claim as one of the savviest fashionistas in a simple shift, Shakira played the part of seductive temptress with her extravagantly embellished number. The fitted dress makes a bold impact on its own so Shakira should’ve opted for a more natural hair style. When wearing so much shine, it’s best not to compete!
The genius sculpture of the Azzedine Alaia jersey dress has drawn many A-List fans, including MObama and Victoria Beckham and it seems Katie Holmes is the latest celebrity devotee. She rocked this sheer silhouette and although the underwear flash was unexpected, it remained demure due to the simplicity of her bra — we wonder whether her hubby/stylist Tom approved! Meanwhile Cat Deeley continued to up her style status by mixing the hard with the soft and layering her LBD over black lace. She wisely choose gold accessories to make the zip detail really stand out. Perfection!
