Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, read it and weep. Vous n’êtes pas the most chic woman in Paris. That’s according to an online poll by Le Figaro magazine to discover the woman who best represents the 'ultimate chic, urban classiness, and unflappable elegance' of the Parisian woman. Carla and her tiny kitten heels scored a measley 8.6 per cent of the votes.
The top honour went to 52-year-old model Inès de la Fressange, a former ’80s Chanel muse, who now acts as brand ambassador for accessories label Roger Vivier, and she scooped 29.5 per cent of the votes.
Grazia is currently a bit obsessed with Inès. Her style is impeccable and quintessentially French; polished, jaunty and sophisticated, in a fabulously ’80s kinda way. CBS, on the other hand, seems to have struggled since she became First Lady 20 months ago with her sometimes costume-like ‘Jackie O visits Paris’ ensembles, and self-sabotaging footwear choices (she won’t wear heels that make her taller than her 5ft 5in husband).
The poll offered a choice of 10 women to vote for as ‘La Parisienne 2009’, someone 'urban, curious, rebellious, contradictory, elegant, loving and cultivated'. The 10 women nominated included Ms Bruni-Sarkozy, the actress Chiara Mastroianni (the daughter of Catherine Deneuve) and the actress and comedian, Valérie Lemercier.
Le Figaro said of Fressange: 'She bubbles like a glass of champagne on the terrace of the Brasserie Flore... she even finds the time to pose in the nude for Madame Figaro magazine.'
Give that the President has seemingly banned Ms Bruni-Sarkozy from wearing heels, we doubt she’ll be posing nude any time soon…. [The Independent]
