Diet Coke's Fashionista puppet Grazia’s Fashion News Editor Kay Barron
From the Anna Wintour-esque Edna Mode in The Incredibles to a (very-yellow) cartoon Linda Evangelista modelling alongside Marge Simpson in a ‘photoshoot’ in Harper’s Bazaar, and Giles Deacon’s latest muse the uh, Cadbury’s Caramel bunny (no really, see our current issue), cute characters have long been inspired by the world of fashion.
The latest to arrive on the scene is a puppet, not a cartoon. You too may have been enchanted by the delightfully catty fashionista puppet that appears in the Diet Coke idents that run before the new series of Ugly Betty, who declares a frilly satin dress “too fussy” before customising it with a blowtorch.
And who did genius ad agency Mother use for the inspiration for the sleekly-groomed fashionista with the glossy bowl-cut and aversion to fussy fashion? We couldn’t possibly comment….
