Once again Saturday nights are not our own. Instead they belong to Simon, Louis, Dannii, Cheryl and, of course, some warbling teens and 20-somethings. Yes, the first live show of The X Factor hit screens on Saturday and we are hooked. But, as ever, the first question on everyone’s lips was… what was Cheryl Cole wearing? It is a case of blink and you’ll miss the gown, as the judges quickly make their dramatic entrance and then spend the rest of the show sitting behind a desk. But instantly we saw it was big, gold and short – let’s hope she’s started as she means to go on. After a quick chat with her X Factor stylist, Frank Strachan, we discovered that the dress is Atelier Versace (quite a coup for young Cheryl), her shoes were made especially for her by Rupert Sanderson – she chose the glitter leopard fabric for them – while the diamond earrings were by Stephen Webster. We also really approved of her loose knotty hair plait, a massive improvement on the BIG hair she favours. All in all, points all round for her live debut. Cheryl and gang, welcome back into our living rooms.
UPDATE: obviously our Sunday nights are not our own either! There they were, all four of them, looking as glossy as they did the night before. This time Cheryl chose to wear a dress and bracelet by Qasimi S/S '10, shoes by Rupert Sanderson and earrings by Stephen Webster.
