Although we secretly hoped Cheryl would flaunt her patriotism by channeling Ginger Spice’s Union Jack dress, the stars did us proud when they stepped out in force for The Pride of Britain Awards last night. And there wasn’t a British flag in sight! Instead it was a sea of monochrome, proving us Brits know how to conquer neutral chic. Tara P-T threw in a pair of colour popping heels while Nicola Roberts worked a red lip but overall, the attendees stuck to simple black and white. Check out our 10 best dressed below and let us know whether the choice was fashion-savvy or just monotone-monotonous…
Black is back
These girls go for fashion’s most faithful look: the LBD. But although this is a safe option in the style stakes, each lady adds a personal touch to their frock - whether it's an asymmetrical neckline for Chezza, sheer panels for Myleene Klass or beaded detailing on Kelly Brook's Louis Vuitton number. We're particuarly fond of Kimberley Walsh's decadent corsage embellishment on her Temperley dress and Rachel Steven's waist-clinching belt that complements those subtle gold sequins. And we'll certainly be channeling Emma Bunton's glitzy cape this party season to bring a hint of bling to the proceedings.
Looks like Nicola Roberts’ love for all things Vivienne Westwood continues as she stepped out in another dress from the designer. But this time, she's bizarelly chosen a shorter version of Carrie Bradshaw's wedding gown! Luckily Nicola manages to make it her own thanks to the large cocktail ring and oversized headband atop her retro red bob. Alexandra Burke also ensured she stood out from the black frock pack by opting for a long and lean look courtesy of her floor-sweeping Grecian gown. Those black heels look a tad out of place though...
Fresh from strutting her stuff on the Parisian catwalk, Naomi Campbell landed on UK soil looking effortlessly elegant. She paired her white batwing jacket with a classic black skirt and just the right amount of ice. Meanwhile, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson chose a flirty look in this Azzedine Alaia dress and contrasting Charlotte Olympia pumps.
