We already knew Rihanna was a full-on fashion force to be reckoned with, but during Paris Fashion Week, we’ve been blown away by her dedication to all things mode.
The singer made her first appearance at Brit designer Gareth Pugh’s show on Wednesday night looking beyond cool in a sexy stretchy sheer-striped black minidress and giant FROW-worthy shades.
The following day she rocked up to the Balmain show in draped harem pants, a bra-baring black lace top and a sharp-shouldered jacket, somehow managing to look even more Balmain-y than the models on the catwalk.
By Friday she was even showing Anna Wintour how it’s done. While the previous day, the US Vogue Editor had appeared at both Balmain and Balenciaga in the same snakeskin coat, RiRi attended the Dior show head-to-toe in black – a puff shouldered embroidered LBD, elbow-length gloves and studded shoes - before changing her entire look (including her make up and jewellery) for Vivienne Westwood’s show two hours later, when she wore thigh-high beige suede boots, and a mini tuxedo dress.
Mostly we are loving that Rihanna is choosing a tres Parisian monochrome palette, for her (admittedly somewhat bonkers) stylings; last night at the Martin Margiela show, she wore another (very) Little Black Dress - a stretchy knitted style with a single white-gloved sleeve.
Sitting next to Rihanna on the front row is her stylist Mariel Haenn. Next week the pair will be in Berlin shooting the publicity photos for the singer’s forthcoming album. "It's definitely going to be Rihanna in the raw state we've seen her in lately," Haenn said. "Though she's an icon right now, this crazy super glam, we're going to see her being real — human." No doubt Rihanna will be able to pick out a few crazy super glam outfits from the Paris catwalks.
But we’re also hoping the singer might be looking for inspiration for a fashion line of her own. If so, maybe she could lend Anna Wintour some pieces...
