Carine Roitfeld wants to do movies too! And possibly Anna Wintour’s job…

Anna Wintour had better watch her back. Because following the success of The September Issue (get thee to a cinema now people!) Condé Nast colleague Carine Roitfeld – editor-in-chief of French Vogue – sounds like she might be wanting to jump on the Hollywood bandwagon after her CNN stint last season. Roitfeld told French Weekly Le Journal du Dimanche that if she were to leave the magazine she’d like to do 'a well-made film about fashion. It’s a world that’s a lot more fun than the one Robert Altman painted in Prêt-à-Porter.’ And in Carine’s opinion, possibly more fun than it’s painted at American Vogue, when asked (again) if she would be up to succeeding Wintour, Roitfeld replied: 'I would be flattered [by an offer], I would consider it, but I think I would refuse it. I’m not sure I have her strength. And also, I love fashion a lot. French Vogue is like Babette’s Feast. Everything is important. Anna Wintour shows fashion and the collections. She sees everything and imposes her choices. Myself, I leave room for a lot of points of view.' This is the first time the French editrix has gone so far as to say she would consider an offer – maybe her next role will be playing the lead at American Vogue? [WWD]
