Anna Wintour approves Christopher Kane’s new collection?

Christopher Kane

As Christopher Kane prepares to be the most-worn designer in the country, as his massive Topshop collection launches in store next week, he also has the little matter of a show to put on at London Fashion Week. But it seems that the collection may have already had the approval of Anna Wintour. The young Scot designer – and hottest ticket at LFW – revealed today that he and the American Vogue editor-in-chief regularly meet in Paris, where he presents his ideas to her. As we have seen in The September Issue, Anna has the power to ‘gently suggest’ to designers, including Oscar de la Renta and Stefano Pilati, what looks should be shown on the runway and others that will stay on the rail. So we can expect Christopher’s collection to be as tight as ever. Now that he is becoming a massive international brand, can we soon see a Christopher Kane store popping up on Bond Street? Not likely. Apparently, even the idea of it makes him feel sick, but ‘his own fashion house, though, surely festooned in gold, à la Versace, slap-bang in the middle of East London, is something to aim for!’
