We are mostly going to spend today shrieking at each other, 'I have to do your bows. They are disgusting!' This will be in honour of the DVD and BluRay release of Valentino: The Last Emperor, which comes out today.
For those of you who missed the film (which was at cinemas on a very limited release), this is a glitzy documentary about legendary designer Valentino Garavani directed by Vanity Fair magazine's Matt Tyrnauer. Valentino is the original star of Italian couture – Jackie O and Elizabeth Taylor have been clients and close personal friends since the ’60s – and this film takes us inside the maestro's glamourama world of high fashion. Today, his signature red gowns are the A-list’s go-to choice for the red carpet.
In addition to the original feature-length film, which contains more high fashion fabulousness, behind-the-scenes glimpses and celebrity sightings than even we can possibly handle, the DVD release features 46 minutes of never-before-seen bonus material: three mini-features covering the unique world of haute couture and 'the unmatched highlife of Valentino and [business partner] Giancarlo Giammetti'.
So watch as Valentino’s extensive staff prepare for a lavish celebrity party at his Parisian home, Chateau Wideville! Ogle inside the designer’s private jet as Valentino plus entourage fly to the glamorous ski resort of Gstaad! Gawp behind the scenes at the star-studded Costume Institute Gala in Valentino’s honour!
Yeah, our lives suck too.
